Our story

A passion born for fun

Giovanni’s passion for the world of wine actually started as a game. With his friends, he engaged in the artisanal production of a sparkling wine using the traditional method, harvesting grapes from his family’s historic vineyards. Giovanni, over time, never leave this passion, and he was able to convey on his strong feeling for oenology to Annalisa, his wife, so much so that they decided together to establish their farm Le Cime Basse in 2019.

Le Cime Basse is a small reality of eight cultivated hectares, distributed over various areas of the Matelica region. About three hectares are planted with Verdicchio in the Balzani area, at an altitude of 420 meters above sea level, and in the Grotta Grifoni area at about 488 meters above sea level. The rest of the property is cultivated with olive groves and various types of orchards, to maintain a rich biodiversity in the area as much as possible.

The company’s first vintage is 2022. A year poor in rainfall and very hot, which required an early harvest of the grapes.

A dedicated and precision viticulture has ensured optimal ripening of the grapes, which have maintained an ideal acid and aromatic profile for producing a Verdicchio of absolute quality.

The manual harvesting during the coolest hours of the day and a special vinification in unglazed concrete tanks have allowed bottling a wine of great character and distinctive personality.
