Matelica

The treasure of Marche

In the heart of the Marche region lies Matelica, a small town surrounded by hills at the foot of Mount San Vicino, carrying with it the secrets of tradition and winemaking passion.

Verdicchio di Matelica is born in the heart of the upper Esino valley, a Marche valley that extends from North to South, mother of winemaking par excellence in our region.

Thanks to the characteristics of its terroir, combined with the skillful work of the local winemakers, the Esino Valley gives us a unique wine every year.

Verdicchio di Matelica is a structured wine with a straw-yellow color and characteristic greenish reflections, perfectly balancing acidity and sapidity. It is a pleasant and round wine with a predominance of white flower and apple aromas.

This wine is produced in a specific geographical area in the heart of the Apennines that extends over the territory of eight municipalities: Matelica, Esanatoglia, Gagliole, Castelraimondo, Camerino, and Pioraco in the province of Macerata, and part of the territory of the municipalities of Cerreto d’Esi and Fabriano, in the province of Ancona.

The area we are in is landlocked, which means that the Matelica area and the other seven municipalities included in the regulations have a continental climate characterized by cool currents coming from the Sibillini Mountains and strong temperature variations between day and night.

These particular conditions favor a slow and never excessive ripening of the grapes, thus enhancing the aromaticity of Verdicchio, its elegance, and its potential for bottle aging.
